UX Research & Mobile Experience Design | Group Project
The CMC Mobile App was a team-based UX project focused on reimagining the Cincinnati Children’s Museum visitor experience through a companion mobile app. Our goal was to create a tool that enhanced way finding, ticketing, dining, and interactive engagement while maintaining a cohesive and energetic brand presence.
The Challenge
Museums often rely on static maps, printed schedules, and limited digital integration. We wanted to design an experience that helped visitors plan their day, navigate exhibits more easily, and engage more deeply with content, all within one intuitive mobile interface.
Key Features Designed
Digital ticket purchasing and pass storage
Interactive indoor map with filtering and floor selection
Mobile dining ordering experience
“Explorer” feature with badges and collectibles to gamify learning
Itinerary builder to help visitors plan their day
My Role
On a 9 person team, I contributed to both the research and UX design process. My work included:
Developing and structuring visitor survey questions to understand pain points and technology usage
Helping define key feature priorities based on research insights
Designing portions of the user flow, including onboarding and feature navigation
Contributing to UI consistency and overall visual direction within Figma
Collaborating on the map, dining, and interactive “Explorer” features
I focused heavily on thinking through the user journey , especially how guests versus members would interact differently with the app.
What I Learned
This project strengthened my understanding of mobile navigation systems, feature prioritization, and designing for real-world environments like wayfinding. It also pushed me to balance bold branding with usability and accessibility.
Most importantly, I learned how to collaborate within a design team, aligning visual direction, user research, and technical feasibility into one cohesive experience.
